Crystal Teeth Whitening | By Cydney M.

Teeth whitening is one of the most requested medspa services right now, especially for clients looking for a simple way to brighten their smile without dental work. Professional whitening works through oxidation, where a whitening gel breaks down pigment inside the enamel and deeper layers of the tooth, so teeth appear whiter overall. Surface stains from coffee, wine, or daily habits respond the fastest, while deeper discoloration takes more time and varies from person to person. Results always depend on natural tooth color, lifestyle, and hydration, so no two outcomes look the same.

Before your appointment, a few small things make a difference. Do not brush or floss within six hours of your visit, but mouthwash is fine. Eat beforehand since you will need to wait 2 hours after your treatment to eat again. Stay hydrated leading up to your appointment, as this helps reduce sensitivity and supports better results.

At your visit, plan for about 90 minutes. The treatment is broken into three 20-minute whitening sessions, followed by a shorter booster session at the end. Each round builds on the last, starting with surface brightening and moving deeper into the enamel and dentin. LED light is used during each session to activate the gel and keep the process consistent. Most clients relax during treatment, rinse between rounds, and can see a visible difference by the end of the appointment. A final booster is applied to help rehydrate the teeth and reduce sensitivity before you leave.

After your appointment, what you do matters just as much as the treatment itself. Avoid eating or drinking for two hours, then stick to light or white-colored foods for the first 24 hours while the teeth are more absorbent. Hydration helps reduce sensitivity, and most mild sensitivity fades within a day. Using your take-home booster that night and maintaining good daily habits will help your results last. Regular touch-ups and limiting stain-causing foods or drinks can keep your smile looking bright longer.
